Many people will scramble around this week, trying to locate the perfect gift for their sweetheart. Many will totally forget the day and reap the harvest of forgetfulness for days to come. Some will fall prey to depression and sadness, as though not receiving a rose or a box of chocolates is affirmation of who they are in this life. True enough, Valentine's Day is set apart to honor the one you love. It is also a time to honor those who have increased our lives with significant love or gestures of kindess and friendship!
Many will agree that the world has, once again, tranformed another beautiful occassion of sentiment to that of commercialism and monetary pressure. Why do we continue to allow the world's system to taint and control our thoughts concerning holidays and how we are supposed to respond to holidays? How can the world dictate how you should honor the ones you love?
Ist Corinthians 13 is considered the "Love Chapter." If we would hold true to the standards of the Word of God, or the Bible, we would all stay focused to the true meaning of love and not rely on one single day to attempt to honor that love. We would find that love is to be upheld and honored all of the time. God is love, and He expect us to remember Him in every form of love. Selah. Valentine' Day is man's gesture, summed up in one day, of something God inspired through Jesus Christ! Hallelujah! Remember God loved us first, and He sent us His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ!
I exhort you to sincerely reach out this Valentine's Day! Show someone that God truly loves them, and allow Him to use you to deliver that love! Remember to reserve that quality time for your sweetheart; but don't forget the elderly, those in hospitals, singles (who are anticipating the arrival of their sweethearts) and your pastors who are watching for your souls.
Blessings to you and your entire households, in Jesus name. Happy Valentine's Day!
